Who is Sun Sea Desert? We are an Australian “slow” fashion, sustainable brand working to change the impact society has on our planet. All of our garments are made ONLY from REPREVE! Repreve is the world’s number one brand of recycled performance fiber. The high-quality fibres are made from 100% recycled materials, including post-consumer plastic bottles and pre-consumer waste. Why recycled fabric/ recycled plastic bottles? Using recycled fabric and plastic bottles not only reduces consumption of new materials, it also reduces air and water pollution. Recycling also reduces the need to grow, harvest or extract new raw materials from the Earth. The use of recycled fabric can help in the clean-up and reduction of waste.

All of our swimwear are ethically made by creators that are treated and paid fairly and work in a safe environment!
We are a “slow fashion” brand. We only release 4 collections a year ensuring that all our pieces are made ethically and sustainably. The fast-fashion industry is the second largest industry when it comes to pollution. Fast-fashion accounts for 10% of all carbon emissions in the world and around 150 billion clothing items are put out by these companies. That is a devastating statistic.
What is slow fashion you ask? Slow fashion is the opposite of fast fashion. It circles an awareness and approach to fashion that considers the processes and resources requires to make clothing. You can expect better-quality garments that will not only last longer but values fair treatment on people, animals and our planet.
So what makes Sun Sea Desert a sustainable brand? We use REPREVE which is the world’s number one brand of recycled performance fiber. The high-quality fibres are made from 100% recycled materials, including post-consumer plastic bottles and pre-consumer waste! Billions of plastic bottles are discarded every year. Plastic pollution is one of the biggest problems in the world. Every year 8 million tons of plastic items end up in our oceans, while 10 million new bottles are purchased every minute. We are talking about MASSIVE quantities of plastic, only a few of which are actually recycled. The rest is sent to the landfill and may last up to 700 years!
Using recycled plastic bottles and recycled fabrics means we don’t harvest or extract raw materials from our Earth. Using plastic helps in the clean-up and reduction of waste.
We aren’t perfect but we will always hold being an ethical and sustainable brand as our core value. We are delighted to provide you high-quality swimwear while reducing the amount of harm done to our world and oceans.
